J-200 Johnny Cash
When Cash hit the stage, he was out there for a purpose. And who does not absolutely love the J-200. My favourite guitar since I was 10 years old. I know--there is hype involved. But what hype. Elvis, Buddy, Emmy Lou and yes, Stomping Tom Conners. And don't forget the Everlys--not to mention Keith, Townsend, Springsteen--who hasn't played a J-200?

Collings C10
You must give this one 100 percent for beauty. This little C10 is a very sweet sounding guitar. Don't believe me--check it out on You Tube. Very clean, clear, crisp sound.

Claxton Malabar
Another great guitar by a great luthier. Again, Google and search You Tube to see and hear more of these great guitars. The number of great guitars available today just blows my mind. I would dearly love to adopt them all, but I have come to the realization that if you play a different guitar every day, then you should only own as many as you can play once per month. So if you play daily--31 is the maximum number of guitars you can love--and even then you are only playing each 12 times yearly. I try to play for an hour daily--and if I play a different guitar for say 10 or fifteen minutes for example, then that does not count as having been played that day. I know, a bit of OCD involved here.

Charis
You must see and hear Charis guitars on You Tube. There are just so many luthiers out there making absolutely fabulous guitars.

Oliver in the case
When Oliver decided to take a nap, John said, "It's a good thing I like him. It's a serious offence to take a nap inside a man's guitar case." To which Chole observed, "Well, he could have done a lot worse than take a nap in there!!"

Artinger
There is just something about a custom guitar that you simply do not get from "off the rack". Make no mistake--I will always have Gibson, Martin, Fender--but when it comes to pure awe, get in touch with your local luthier.

Applegate Archtop
If you would like to know more about Applegate guitars, just Google or search on You Tube. You will find enough information and sounds to keep you busy for hours. Today would be a great day to play one of these wonderful instruments.

Gord's Xaver Mini Jumbo
You saw Gord holding this guitar a few days ago. What beauty. Learn all about this guitar on Gerry's web site--Xaver Guitars.

Applegate
From the Dream Guitars web site, which by the way causes me to drool every time, here is a piece that must be admired. Not too elaborate, yet pretty fancy inlays none the less. Personally I do not go for scrolling inlays up and down the entire neck--but this inlay work does me just fine.

Gord and his Xaver Mini Jumbo
Gord describes his new Xaver Mini Jumbo, "The sound quality over the fret range just takes your breath away! I had never experienced anything quite like this until I started playing Gerry's guitars. Quite clearly he's put his heart and soul into creating these wonderful guitars and he has given the word "note" a new meaning - very well done!" Xaver guitars rule!!

African Blackwood
If you love guitars, as I do; then this one is genuine eye candy. Just looking at this picture you can almost hear the resonance.

Fender Jazzmaster
This is the first electric guitar I ever owned. I just figured--"How does one go through life without a Jazzmaster?" I couldn't figure out a way...it is just so much fun to play.

Road Worn Telecaster--Part 7
I just had to post the headstock of this Telecaster. The brand new fret wires are about the only thing that might give away the fact that this is a new guitar. But even so--many think it just had a "fret-job". Fender has the destressing techniques down to a science.

Who made this guitar?
Would I take this over my Road Worn Telecaster? That is a decision I would just not even consider. I would simply get both!!

Yamaha Bass
So I go into the music store to buy a bass. I'm trying out Fenders, Richenbachers, you name it--I played every bass in the store. This Yamaha bass was (if I remember correctly) $369. When the Music Store Dude comes over I tell him--"This Yamaha is the best bass in the store--I'll take it over those expensive ones any day." He says, "I know!!" I even got two T-shirts in the deal. The T's are worn out--but the bass is still choice.

Road Worn Telecaster--Part 6
The staining on the pick guard and the rust on the hardware add to the authenticity of this Road Worn beauty. Check back tomorrow--you never know what I might have for you then.

Road Worn Telecaster--Part 5
If you are not impressed by the Tex-Mex pickups on this instrument--then you are just not into the Telecaster sound. When you play this guitar you are not simply playing guitar--you are Telecasting!!

Road Worn Telecaster--Part 3
Willie does not seem impressed, but he is the only one. Well, maybe one other. When I was checking this baby through the cash, the guy at the next cash said, "Are you really going to buy that?"

Road Worn Telecaster--Part 2
So I looked at the guitar and I said to John, "Man, I don't know--it's awfully rough looking." And John replied, "I think it's beautiful."

Road Worn Telecaster-Part 1
How about this "Road Worn Telecaster"? Donna was in Halifax and she told me I could get a new guitar. So I got this. And a mandolin. Remember the Johnny Cash black mandolin? And of course here again is my buddy Willie Nelson.
