I just got to play this great guitar. What a joy. I have played this before--but this evening I got to play it in quiet surroundings. How did it sound? I suggest you contact Xaver Guitars and give it a spin yourself. You'll be glad you did. And tell Gerry Jack sent you.

Frank Gay
Frank Gay made guitars for just about every country star in the 50's. In the 60's my friend Mick Bennison had a Frank Gay custom guitar built and I was privileged to play it more than a few times. Later in Edmonton during the 70's Frank did a set-up on my '67 Southern Jumbo that has been shown on this Blog. What a pleasure to get to meet and know this great and troubled man--to watch him work and to hear him play. Then in the 90's I was jamming with a banjo player who was playing a Frank Gay custom banjo. Small world. It breaks my heart to see guitars like this behind glass--musical instruments should be in the hands of musicians--making music.

A Guitar Called Jack--Part 92
This is the guitar responsible for the creation of this Blog in the first place. If you start at the first entry of this Blog you will see how this wonderful instrument was built by Gerry Gruber of Xaver guitars. Gerry is currently in the process of making a guitar very similar to this one, i.e. a Mini Jumbo with Walnut back and sides with a Western Red Cedar top. Maybe you could own Jack's brother!!

Les Paul in Blue Jean
What do you think? Everybody seems to have something to say about this guitar. I know this Blog gets lots of views, but not many comments. Maybe this Blue Jean Les Paul will earn a comment or two?
